Things to Do in San Carlos:

The Museum of San Carlos History details the history of the local area with artifacts from the first settlers in the area, the Lamchin Indians through the early establishment of San Carlos as a township. The Museum has assembled an assortment of items from private local benefactors and public records. The Museum has a rich collection of photographs from the 1800s and early 1900s and an antique full size fire engine on display.

Volunteer firemen built the original Museum structure in 1923 as San Carlos’ first firehouse and then its City Hall. After being vacated in 1941, the original building fell into disrepair. The San Carlos Lions Club rebuilt the building in 1976 and gifted the building to the city of San Carlos in 1981. The house can be rented for special events, birthdays, or ceremonies. Touring this quaint museum takes less than an hour—pick up a coffee at the nearby Starbucks and enjoy the quick stroll into San Carlos’ history.

The Museum of San Carlos History is open on Saturdays between 1 PM and 4 PM and this link to the local community’s past can be toured by docent guide with a special arrangement during the week. Admission to the museum is free and worth checking out if you are staying at The Silicon Valley Inn.
